What is the recommended sequence of activities for MEDITECH Expanse, and is there gating?

Updated on

MEDITECH Expanse activities include Getting Started followed by several acute patient activities and several ambulatory patient activities. After completing the Getting Started activity, it is recommended that students complete all acute activities in order, and all ambulatory activities in order. However, acute and ambulatory activities are independent from one another; it is not necessary to complete acute activities before ambulatory (or vice versa).

Yes; MEDITECH Expanse activities are gated. The assessment portion of the Getting Started activity must be completed before any other activities will become available. Also, the assessment portion of the ambulatory Registering a Patient activity must be completed before the ambulatory activities Clinical Documentation and Patient Identity Management can be accessed. While Getting Started and ambulatory Registering a Patient are the only technical gates, as explained above it is recommended that acute activities be completed in sequence, and independently all ambulatory activities be complete in sequence.
